The last thing Rio Donati expected was a chance encounter with the woman of his dreams. He falls for her, but senses hesitancy on her part. However, that doesn’t keep him from taking an emotional sledgehammer to the wall she’s built around her heart.

Excerpt
The winter’s cold stole my breath and burned my lungs. Damn Pennsylvania weather. If the mercury hit twenty degrees that day, it would be a minor miracle. I jammed my hands in my coat pockets. Forgetful me. No gloves.
I grumbled as I jogged to my car. I probably looked like a dork with my arms flapping like chicken wings as I moved but it got me to my car quicker. The handle was freezing beneath my fingers but I powered through it and flung open the door then nearly dove into my vehicle. I slammed the door with a solid thud then jammed the key in the ignition and turned.
And was blasted in the face with frigid air from the car vents as a reward for my quick entrance. I should have warmed the car for a few minutes. Like the saying went... hindsight was always 20/20.
Thankfully, the interior warmed on the trip to my attorney’s office. As I drove along Edgar Street in downtown Jamesonburg looking for a parking spot, I saw a surprising amount of brave souls walking on the sidewalks. The wind was bitterly cold, but people braced themselves and plowed on. As I passed my attorney’s office, I realized I’d be one of those people. They were a lot smarter than me, though. They had gloves and scarves.
After driving three blocks past my destination, I found a spot, used my parallel parking prowess, and was quickly on my way down the sidewalk. People in this town were either hot or cold. Friendly or rude. I got bumped a few times as I passed others. Some apologized; others glared and went on their merry way.
I happened to glance up in time to see the top of a head of black, shining curls barreling toward me. I tried to sidestep the bulldozer but wasn’t quick enough.
“Oomph!” We collided shoulder to shoulder. My arms flailed wildly as I tried desperately to maintain my balance. Epic fail. I landed rump first on the concrete. “Oow,” I moaned as dirt and grit bit into my palms and cold seeped into my backside. Of all the times to get knocked on my butt, it had to be when there was ice melt on the sidewalk and now, more than likely, on the back of my pants. I only had to meet with my real estate agent and my attorney.
“I am so sorry,” a deep, masculine voice said from above me.
I looked up and, despite the embarrassing situation that was unfolding, smiled. If I was going to get ran over by a man, at least it was Demetrio “Rio” Donati. Second baseman for the Jamesonburg War Hawks baseball team and hunk extraordinaire.
