#WriteTip - Keep a Notebook Handy by K. T. Black (@KTBlack_author), spotlighting her #Sexy #LSBooks #PNR

My Liquid Silver Books pub-buddy K.T. Black had a paranormal romance come out recently. Before getting some alone time with her hunky hero Dylan Holt, I asked her to impart a writing tip. I actually haven't managed to pull this one off with any degree of consistency, but I'm working on it!

Keep a notebook handy. I always carry a notebook with me and keep one beside my bed. Don't risk losing an idea forever. Get it down on paper.

The Assistant

Interview with Dylan Holt,
from The Assistant

Hello. My writer wanted me to take a few minutes to tell you a little bit about myself, and perhaps even entice you with her new story.

My name is Dylan Holt. I come from a long line of succubus/incubi, and history hasn't always painted my kind in the best light, nor has it gotten things completely accurate. I'm not a "Demon", but I'm not exactly human either, even though I do resemble one. An extremely attractive one. <Shrugs and grins smugly>. I know that makes me sound egotistical, but it's part of how I'm able to draw humans to me.

So, I'm guessing you're wondering if part of what you've heard about a succubus/incubi is true. Do I enter into dreams and tempt humans with erotic suggestions? Absolutely! It is my nature after all. The sexier the dreams, the more potent the energy for me to feed from.

Now don't look at me like that. Before you go judging me, I must point out that this isn't entirely one-sided. I don't completely drain the life force of anyone I'm involved with. I do take what I require, but I also give them something in return. The inspiration to pursue the thing they desire most.

I also have the ability to enhance dreams, make them seem real. It helps to motivate the human I'm pursuing to keep them dreaming. If things progress to an intimate relationship, even better.

As far as me in general, I'm a bit of a wanderer, able to adapt to any situation. A true "Jack of All Trades". I'm a whiz with modern technology, which comes in handy. I've had to reinvent myself more times than I care to count. And, for a long time I thought I was happy moving from town to town, person to person. Then I encountered Elise Bennette. That's when everything changed. She made me want to set down roots and get lost in her dreams.

About K.T. Black

K.T. Black often mixes genres when creating her romance stories. Whether her (F/F or F/M) stories are filled with witches or regular people, they frequently include mystery/suspense, sci-fi, fantasy or paranormal elements. She never limits the direction her imagination takes her when telling a good story.

When she's not writing, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to movies, cooking, traveling, playing video games, and meeting interesting/eccentric people--many of whom help color the worlds she creates while writing. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family and three very spoiled cats.

#WriteTip - Keep On Writing by Bella J (@BellaJ_Author), with a #CoverReveal for her @LSB_lsbooks #Romance

My Liquid Silver Books pub-buddy Bella J. has her debut release coming out this November. Before showing off her gorgeous cover and sexy excerpt, I asked her to impart a writing tip. Here's a confession--I'm having a really hard time sticking to this one lately.

Keep On Writing

by Bella J

I’m not sure if I’m actually in a position to give writing tips at the moment since my book is only due for release November 16th. [TQ: Of course she is...]  I’m thinking I should wait and see what reviews my novel gets before I start dishing out advice left, right and centre. (lol)

But okay… here goes –

So my advice today is… wait for it…

KEEP ON WRITING!!

I know, I know – it sounds like a cliché, but let me elaborate:

Although Resplendent Ruin is my first novel to get published, it is in fact the third novel I’ve written.  I’ve also just completed Resplendence Book#2, and have started on Book#3.  Usually my ideas start out with a character.  I develop this character in my head and then I start thinking about what kind of life this character would lead, what circumstances he or she would find themselves in.  And for some reason after I’ve got this picture of the character, I somehow just know what the ending to his or her story should be.

Basically, my stories start with a character and an ending. BOOM!

Now it’s what gets written in between that somehow ends up tossing hurdles my way.  I never seem to actually know how to get my characters to their happy endings.

So what do I do?  I just “wing it.”

I literally go sit down in front of my laptop and just start typing.  You would be amazed at how the words end up flowing once you start.  Yes, there are scenes that you know beforehand how you want them to play out, and it’s great when you manage to plan those ahead.  But I’ve found that the best scenes I’ve written (according to me, that is…again, let’s wait for those reviews) is the scenes that I just wrote without having a clear direction in mind.

So do I believe in writer’s block?  Maybe.  But I think the best way to work through it is to just write.  Even if it feels like you’re writing the biggest load of crap, you can always go back and revise later.  Yet, those parts you initially thought was a bucket load of bull might just turn out to be some of the best parts of your story.  *wink*

Resplendent Ruin

Resplendence, Book 1

by Bella J

Juliette Mason had it all—the perfect job, the perfect home, the perfect fiancé. She lived the perfect life. Until everything started to slowly fall apart.

Daniel, her attractive and success-driven fiancé, was the love of her life. For years she wanted nothing more than to finally walk down the aisle, to be Mrs. Daniel Clarke. But as time went by, the cracks in their relationship started to come to the surface, and Juliette found herself in a place she never imagined she would be. It was a place where she started to question everything about her life and her dreams, a place where nothing about her life made sense anymore—a place where she found Knox Taylor.

Knox didn’t count on falling in love. In fact, Knox didn’t count on anything really. He was blissfully happy living a fast life of reckless behavior, impulsive decisions, and beautiful women. He lived the perfect life of a flourishing bachelor—but then she happened.

Excerpt

“Why are you in my room?”

Juliette yelped and jumped at the same time. She dropped the cuff which was still clutched in her hand, and the sound echoed through the room as it clashed against the bedpost.

“Oh my God,” she breathed, holding her hand against her chest. Her heart was beating a hundred miles an hour, and she could feel all the blood drain from her body, rushing to her burning cheeks.

“Why are you in my room?” His voice was right behind her now, and she swallowed hard. Not wanting to turn around and let him see the embarrassment on her face, she kept her back to him.

“I’m sorry,” she muttered and tried to scurry past him. But before she was able to make a getaway, he reached out and grabbed her wrist. A shockwave of extreme undiluted need shot up from his touch, through her spine, straight to her core. Holy crap, she couldn’t breathe.

His stare burned through her skin and her body felt like it was on fire. Startled by what she felt, she looked up at him.

His midnight hair was damp and unruly as ever, and his face slightly flushed.

There was no stopping her gaze from moving down.

“I, um…I…” She couldn’t think of a single thing to say, not one damn thing as she stared at his incredibly well-built, unbelievably toned chest with the faint dusting of black chest hair.

Down, down, down—like Alice in the rabbit hole—her attention went, until they reached the very prominent, very masculine V. Or what Lexi would call it, the “penis-pointer.”—Oh no, she didn’t? Did she just think about his…

Yes. Yes, she did.

“Up here, sweetheart,” he said, still clutching her wrist.

Her gaze shot up, another wave of embarrassment making its way to her already burning face. He had that damn arrogant grin he wore so well on his face. He knew the effect he had on her. He knew every dirty little thought that flashed through her mind during the last five seconds. Smug bastard!

She jerked her arm out of his hold and her skin instantly mourned the loss. “I just came to return your jacket.” It was a miracle that she didn’t stutter since she couldn’t form a single sentence in her head.

His arm dropped to his side and her eyes followed the movement. That’s when she noticed the white towel wrapped around his waist. For a split second the thought of what was behind that flimsy white towel made her thighs clench and her stomach tighten.

Look away!

He cocked a brow. “And you needed to put it in my room?”

“Well,” she searched for words, or an explanation, or something, “I just wanted to make sure you got it back safely.” Well, I certainly aced that explanation.

He looked at her suspiciously, and then his eyes went dark. “Whatever. You can leave now.” He dismissed her.

Oh hell no!

She gave a step forward. “Do you think that women actually find this whole jackass approach of yours attractive?” she spat out.

“I don’t know, do you?”

Struggling—yet again—to think on her feet, she just stared at him, completely blank. Nice.

He gave a step toward her, traces of the darkness in his eyes she saw a second ago gone. What she could only interpret as a sexy-as-hell grin crossed his face, showing off his ridiculously distracting dimples.

I want to trace those dimples with my tongue… Stop!

All of a sudden the entire atmosphere between them changed from awkward, to angry, to—electrifying. Her skin tingled, and she was suddenly painfully aware that except for the flimsy towel wrapped around his waist, he was completely and utterly naked.

With somewhat furrowed brows and the corners of his mouth pulled back just enough for her to wonder if he was about to smile or frown, he slowly started toward her. With each step he took, she instinctively gave one step back. This was probably what trapped prey felt like being stalked by a wild, hungry predator. Adrenalin would pump through the prey’s veins as it prepared to run for its life or brace itself for impact. The only difference was that the adrenalin pumping through her veins was for an entirely different reason than wanting to escape her predator. In fact, she wanted to run to the predator.

Stupid, stupid prey!

She inhaled sharply when her back hit the wall. Her body started to shiver as he leaned into her. Heat burned through her skin while her heart beat wildly inside of her chest.

He placed his hands flush against the wall just above her shoulders and looked down at her, his eyes a frenzy of heat and seduction. Every inch of her body felt electrified, like it was leaning over the edge of unadulterated lust in search of ecstasy.

He cocked his head to the side and he stared at the soft, exposed skin of her neck. She was pretty sure he could have seen the vein pulsating to the rhythm of her heart. She felt completely intoxicated by the way he moved, the way he smelled, and the way it felt having him so close up against her. She closed her eyes and felt him slowly trace the edge of his nose up her neck, all along her jaw until she could feel his lips brush against her ear.

“Tell me, Jules,” he whispered, the words coated with sheer unmistakable allure.

“Tell you what?” she asked dazed. She could not remember what the hell they were talking about.

He focused all his attention on her lips while he kept his mouth mere inches from hers. It was complete agony having his lips so close to hers and not being able to feel it.

“Do you find my jackass approach attractive?”

His warm breath waved over her wet lips and an inferno of flames erupted inside of her, leaving her incapable of thinking about anything else than what his lips would feel like pressed firmly against hers.

Jot down all story ideas!

by Jessica Subject

As writers, we are usually inundated with story ideas. At least, I am. My mother always asks me if I’ve run out of story ideas. I wish! The problem is, I don’t have enough time to get all of my ideas fleshed out into stories.

But, I don’t ever pass on them. I have a story idea folder on my computer, and a physical one in my office. While I have different stories stored in each, I don’t plan on ever throwing them out. While an idea may sound foolish in the beginning, it may end up being one of your favorite stories after you’ve plotted it out and written it.

Taken by the Billionaire Alien Next Door started as a joke with my husband. I kept telling him how the billionaire and stepbrother romance tropes were very popular in the ebook emails I received every day. I said that I should write a billionaire alien stepbrother story. Well, the idea stuck. I couldn’t get rid of it. So, I started writing. While I scraped the romance with her stepbrother, I kept the billionaire alien by making him a neighbor. Proof that an idea that begins as a joke may turn into a worthwhile story if you develop it well.

So, the next time you come up with what seems like a goofy or unlikely idea, write it down anyway. You never know how it may develop in the future.

Excerpt (Mature Audiences Only)

“What exactly do you think I am, Miss Erika?”

“An alien.” There, I’d said it, and I expected him to laugh in my face and deny it.

Instead, he placed his hands behind his back and stepped nearer. “And what if I am?”

My breath caught. “I….” I should have kept my mouth shut. No, I should have waited for Barron to text a reply, never come over to the neighbor’s house. Now, I was stuck in a basement hangar with a flying saucer and a guy who could be from another planet.

Laken inched closer, and closer still. I moved along with him until my back hit a wall on the other side of the room. Trapped. Trying to duck away wouldn’t do me any good. He’d only race around and block my way again. My heart beat so hard, I expected it to thump right out of my chest. Would he let me go, or did he have other plans? If I screamed loud enough, would someone come to my rescue?

Leaning forward, he placed his palm on the wall behind me. “What if I told you I knew the instant you came into this room?” He ran his other hand along my cheekbone, tucking my hair behind an ear. “What if I told you I could feel your attraction, smell your sex?”

A shiver raced down my spine. Sure, I wanted to jump his bones before I’d seen his eyes. Now, I yearned for a way out, a clear path to escape from Mr. Sex-on-a-stick who may or may not be an extraterrestrial.

He dipped his head so close to mine, his warm breath brushed my neck. A flash of heat washed over me. Fuck, it had been so long since I’d been with any guy. Did it really matter where he came from?

“What if, Erika? If I am an alien? Would you still find me attractive? Would you still want to lick me from head to toe? Suck my cock? Would you want me to fuck you against this wall, in my spaceship, and on every single surface of this room?”
