Science Fiction and Fantasy Saturday No. 8 (#sffsat) - Warlock's Pawn

Warlock's Pawn is a fantasy (e) romance inspired by The Arabian Nights (emphasis on the "e"). It will be released on Amazon and ARe on March 18th, and it will probably show up at other locations approximately a month after. This snippet continues where the first one left off (click on the SFFSat tag at the bottom of the post to read past snippets).

She had spied on his courtship of her sister for close to a moon’s cycle. On the day he arrived in Dionia he’d been covered from the neck down in dangerously glinting chainmail and steel-plated armor. He had skin the color of dark amber with curling mahogany locks that brushed his neck. A true warlock of lore, he stood more than a head taller than those in his retinue, the breadth of his shoulders making his betrothed princess seem fragile by comparison. The heft of his breastplate, epaulets, and greaves made it hard to believe a warhorse had carried him over the vast sandy dunes, yet he moved with such agility she soon forgot he wore any armor at all.
