I've Been Tagged (by @HaleyWhitehall )! - Meet My Character Blog Chain - #PNR #Romance
/If you haven't noticed, I'm a little leery of talking about my works in progress. Though I'm far from superstitious, I always feel as if mentioning manuscripts prior to publication might jinx it, forever dooming the poor story to the dregs of my hard drive.
So when the lovely Haley Whitehall (whose interracial historical romances have graced my blog many a time) tagged me in the Meet My Character Blog Chain, I was a bit apprehensive. But since I've just turned in my third round of edits, I figured hinting at the existence of my Halloween-themed 1-Night Stand romance couldn't hurt.
So without further ado, let me introduce you to the heroine of Flirting with Fire, my upcoming paranormal romance from Decadent Publishing.
Meet Catalina Gato
What is the name of your character? Is she fictional?
Here's how she introduces herself to her one-night stand:
“My name is Catalina Gato. I’m a maid, accountant, and shape-shifting witch with a clueless boss and very meddlesome sister.”
When and where is the story set?
Present day Washington, D.C. on All Hallows' Eve. There's a slight twist–witches and warlocks lurk among us.
What should we know about your character?
Her one-night stand happens to be with her "clueless boss," who is so out of the loop he doesn't know she's in his employ.
What is their main conflict? What messes up her life?
When Cat's previous employer died, the standard Familiar Employment Agreement transferred her service to the witch's estranged great nephew, a fire mage who doesn't know magic exists. Without his express permission, she can't assume her human form in front of him. Since he doesn't know she's not actually his pet, he hasn't given permission.
On top of that, she has a huge crush on him.
What is the personal goal of your character?
To find a way out of the contract.
Is there a working title for this novel, can we read more about it?
The official title is Flirting with Fire. Look for it at all major eBook retailers next month!
I was tagged by...
I was supposed to tag more people, but I've been a bit tied up with edits, so I'll end with an open invitation. If you stumble upon this and would like to join the fun, leave me a comment with a way to get in touch and I'll amend this post to include your details. As you can tell, participation only requires a blog post answering a few easy questions.
To make up for my delinquency, here are some tidbits about the other authors Haley tagged (who I know well, and would have tagged had she not beaten me to it). They should have their own blog chain posts up today as well!
