Science Fiction and Fantasy Saturday No. 18 (#sffsat) - Warlock's Pawn - #FantasyRomance
/This snippet is from Warlock's Pawn and continues from the last one (click on the SFFSat tag at the bottom of the post to read past snippets). Warlock's Pawn is a fantasy romance inspired by The Arabian Nights. It was released last month and is available on LSBooks, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ARe, and Kobo. In this post, Duncan learns a bit more about the fey who saved is life.
“You know how to wield a dagger,” he observed as he ran his thumb over her skin, finding telltale marks that he would not expect from one so highborn.
“Among other weapons,” the fey replied as she struggled to rise into a sitting position.
An unwelcome surge of protectiveness rather than ingrained manners made him circle her slender waist with his arm. Once she was cradled against his chest, he filled his lungs with her unique scent and tried once more to remove the veil.
“I serve the Temple of the Goddess. Revealing my face means death,” she protested. Laughing, he shrugged off her threat. “Considering the circumstances, I find that law the least of my concerns.”
